Soft and Hard Skills

The MIS program and my work experience in the public, private, academic, and non-profit environments have given me a range of skills and types of clientele that has prepared me to be able to work and adapt in any work environment. I have gained the necessary hard skills and knowledge from the MIS program as well as through my employment at the Saint Paul University Library in addition to acquiring soft, essential skills through my prior work experience.

Teamwork and Collaboration Skills

Most of my teamwork and collaboration skills come from both personal and professional experience, but the MIS program has given us the opportunity to fine tune these through group projects.

My work experience as an Early Childhood Educator provided me with these skills as I often collaborated with my students’ teachers and parents to ensure they were receiving the proper care and support in their education and after-school activities.

Working in my current position on financial initiatives in Affordable Housing at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) means I am consistently collaborating with colleagues and other departments to push through funding to help those in need.

And finally, working as a Project Administrator means that I had to coordinate with site supervisors, project managers and suppliers to keep to our project development timelines and budget.
