At the beginning of every spring/summer semester, the uOttawa Library holds a week-long series of events hosted by library employees, for library employees. This week is commonly referred to as “Staff Week”, and is geared toward team building activities and getting people across different teams to participate in events together.
I first started working at the uOttawa Library as Data Analyst at the end of April 2014. Coincidentally, I participated in my first Staff Week right at the beginning of my time in the new job. This was a great way to get to meet library staff across many locations and learn more about what everyone is doing. I had never had this kind of opportunity in my previous jobs and thought it was a terrific idea that the Library did this. I was hooked from that very first Staff Week and it became a week I looked forward to every year.
In subsequent Staff Weeks, I tried playing a more active role, not only as a participant in Staff Week events, but also to help organize certain activities.
Here are the major activities I participated in or helped organize:
This year, I am also joining the upcoming Staff Week Committee for 2019.
