  • Provided bilingual reference and research support to students, faculty, and researchers.
  • Helped users find and assess numeric and geospatial data resources that are appropriate for their research needs.
  • Taught users how to create GIS data visualizations, such as static and dynamic maps for inclusion in presentations, reports, and publications.
  • Designed and delivered a wide variety of in-class instruction and library workshops on many topics, including: finding geospatial data, using ArcGIS Online, learning ArcGIS Pro, basic and advanced Excel, and mapping census data.
  • Supported users for various GIS and statistical programs, including: ArcGIS suite, QGIS, Excel, SAS, SPSS, Stata, and Beyond 20/20.
  • Managed ArcGIS licenses and extensions for GIS users across campus.
  • Acted as the primary contact (senior statistical focal point) responsible for data access and training for the Real Time Remote Access (RTRA) service from Statistics Canada, including developing a new RTRA research guide to support users: http://uottawa.libguides.com/rtra.
  • Organized and managed the Library’s geospatial data repository, integrating these within existing structure, and helping to make these accessible to users.

  • Administered and managed user access to the Postal Code Conversion File (PCCF) to match postal code data to socio-demographic data, such as census and survey data.
  • Participated in a community of practice with professional organizations, such as the Portage Network, to work toward the development of Research Data Management (RDM) on a local and national scale.

  • Updated the Open Access database of all OA peer-reviewed journals to 2018 data.

GIS Analyst, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Small Craft Harbours Branch), Ottawa, ON

  • Developed a new collection of geospatial data for Branch to support future analyses and decision-making.
  • Produced professional map layouts using ArcGIS and Python for web display and automated the production of print maps for regional offices across Canada.
  • Coordinated the availability of GIS data between colleagues from various local and regional offices.
  • Recorded ISO-compliant metadata for geospatial data collection.

  • Produced map templates and layouts using ArcGIS 10 by applying cartographic design principles to create hard-copy maps or digital displays to distribute within entire branch.
  • Assisted in the organization and execution of a three-day government workshop with approximately 90 participants and a total budget of $60,000.
  • Established an online static map repository for sharing of mapping products within the Department.
  • Collaborated with regional staff to update the Ecologically and Biologically Significant Areas (EBSA) dataset.
  • Consolidated regional marine Species at Risk critical habitat datasets into one single national dataset.
  • Re-organized the program’s geospatial database to ISO standard for better collaboration within and outside of the Department.

  • Developed a custom Web application using HTML, JavaScript, and PHP that enabled soil experts across Canada to update soil data remotely through a Google Earth KML file with embedded hyperlinks.
  • Used ModelBuilder in ArcGIS to batch repetitive processes and to document steps for various projects, including producing statistical summaries of soil data across Canada.
  • Entered and manipulated geospatial metadata using ArcCatalog 9.3 (ArcGIS 9.3) according to ISO 19115 standards.
  • Delivered presentations and seminars to promote use of innovative solution to support future projects in other branches and departments.
  • Streamlined conversion of TXT to XML files in Notepad++ using macros to repeat same steps for thousands of records.
  • Produced detailed documentation, including a 30-page report, to support use of custom Web application.
