Hello, and welcome to my i-Portfolio!

My name is René Duplain, and I am currently enrolled as a graduate student in the Master of Information Studies (MIS) program in the School of Information Studies (ÉSIS) at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada. I have also been working as a Data Analyst at the University of Ottawa Library for the past 5 years.

This i-Portfolio is a collection of my experience, knowledge, and skills that I have acquired in my professional life. Although this portfolio was created in partial requirement for my MIS, it represents the major steps along my journey to a career in librarianship. It captures the post-secondary education I have done as well as all my work experience. I have organized the portfolio with the following sections: Professional Values, Knowledge, Project Planning, and Skills. You can also find my blog posts by looking at “Recent Posts” on the right-hand menu, or search through my portfolio by my competencies (i.e. Communication Skills, Knowledge Base, Planning and problem solving, Professional Values and Ethics, Research and Evaluation Skills, and Teamwork and Collaboration), or by keyword.

My career path has had a few twists and turns, but with each new position and degree, I have learned from those experiences and grown as a professional and as a person. After having had the opportunity to work at an academic library for several years, I recognize that a career in librarianship is a perfect fit for my personality, professional values, and skill set. I hope you enjoy reading through this portfolio as much as I did creating it!
