Values & Ethics

Professional values

The interplay of values with policies cannot be underestimated. Information professionals must consider their own positionality in relation to the field in which they work. The values that I hold, both personal and professional, form the basis of my work and decisions; they guide the minutiae of my day-to-day activities.

As a professional, I recognize that while my degree stands me in good stead in terms of knowledge and experience, I will need to continually review and develop my understanding of my responsibilities as a steward of information.

Personal values

In my personal life, I endeavour to live out my values in community with others. I am deeply invested in hospitality and inclusion, and hold my gentle personality as a strength that gathers people together. I believe this helps to create space for creativity and curiosity, which in turn nourishes dynamic and robust community. These foundations of resilience and friendship in turn lay the groundwork for expanding community care, helping others and working for social justice.
