My name is Nicholas Beauparlant, I am a second year Graduate student in the Masters of Information Studies(MIS) Program at the University of Ottawa, set to graduate over the Summer of 2025. During my time in this program, I have set about refining the skills I have gathered over the course of my professional career through my course work and my 8 month CO-OP term at the National Research Council of Canada.

I immersed myself into the world of information studies as a result of my interest in research. After exploring many career paths, I was struck by how much I enjoyed research work. Finding various sources of information and extracting meaningful insights from them was an extremely fulfilling use of my time. Seeking to improve my knowledge and skills surrounding information, I enrolled in the MIS. With the knowledge and skills acquired, I am primed to continue my profession as a highly informed researcher. I aim to become a research or reference librarian in a context that enables to me to further the public good.

This portfolio is a curated representation of my knowledge, skills, ethics and ambitions. By offering those who are curious a glimpse into my professional history, I wish to demonstrate to them not only what my education has provided me, but also the values that I have held dear throughout my professional development. My future is linked to public service. I cherish every opportunity that I have had to serve the public, and this portfolio serves as a testament to that fact.
